Dustin Watts, O'Dea HS

Year: 2011
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 170 lbs
Postition: Guard
High School: O'Dea HS
AAU Team: Friends of Hoop
Status: Signed (Seattle University)

Strengths:
While Watts may not always be the most athletic player on the court, he has a high basketball IQ and will rarely frustrate his head coach. He rarely lets his emotions get in the way of his play. Always the most composed and steady player on the court. His team feeds off of this composure. He has a an above-average jump shot and can finish consistently in the mid-range. He will rarely hesitate to take an open shot, his shot selection is excellent. He didn't take a bad shot in the whole game I watched him play in. Good feel for the game in transition. He is willing to be a team-player and won't force the issue.

Weaknesses:
He does not have the ball-handling or the passing ability yet to be considered a true point guard. He is undersized and does not have a killing scoring instinct to play the two guard. He will likely have to work harder on becoming a distributer to be an effective player at the next level. Didn't show an aggressiveness in attacking the basket, not an intimidating offensive threat.

Evaluated: O'Dea vs. Garfield 12/18/10

Notes:
Nephew of former Washington Husky stand-out and West Seattle head coach Donald Watts. Committed to Seattle University in Sept. 2010.
